BANDED JASPER VICTORIAN CROSS
A single highly polished piece of Banded Jasper, formed in the shape of a cross, with applied mounts of silver and pearls, Gold and Enamel 'spring-ring; Bale
Circa : 1870's – 1880's, British isles, Scottish type
Size : cross, 2-1/2” x 1-1/2”; 3” to top of bale
Pearls : total 36; 32 natural split pearls in silver at apex of cross; 4 more in graduated sizes in bale
The bale opens to fit over broad chain of large pearls or beads. The bale is gold with traces of enamel in a channel around the pearl. Bale may not be original; it may be a custom addition, in the manner of (and possibly by) Elizabeth Locke.
