French Pendant Cross Necklet,
18k rose gold, silver, and 201 brilliants

"SONGNY RUE DE LA DARSE MARSEILLE"
The 18k Rose Gold is finished with bright-cut engraved decoration, typical motif of the late 1700's to early 1800's neoclassical.
Necklace is choker length 14-1/2", terminating in gold open teardrop loops for a ribbon which can be tied to length desired. The center bowk-not descends 3-1/2" to bottom of the cross.
Hallmarks & quality marks : on right terminal, maker mark in losenge;; swan in horizontal oval, struck twice.
On left terminal, same maker mark in losenge.
on top fitment of cross, single frame eagle for 18k gold assayed in Paris, 1838-47.
The swan marks indicate re-importation to France from a non-treaty nation after 1892. The mark designates that the silver part was assayed by touchstone to be 800 purity or higher.
This mark would have been added around the time the fitted box was made, when it was imported for sale by the Marsailles dealer in antique jewelry.
