Jacobite ROSE & BUD silver seal, on carved mother pearl handle, a cuffed hand clutching a rolled document.
Engraved in mirror image : M.A.S.L. to A.F.K.
The 'rose and bud' image was used clandestinely by exiled supporters of James Edward Stewart (known as the Old Pretender, son of England's deposed King James II) and his son Charles Edward Stewart "Bonnie Prince Charlie".
Titled supporters, often Scots and Irish, dispersed across the Continent, for generations continuing the comradeship of their cause.
