Watts, and photographs by John Mayall & Barraud's Ltd.; plus other illustrations throughout (total 36 plates).
Binding : Handsome morocco leather, spines with five raised bands, gold titled (& dated "1908" at spine bottoms, presumably by the binder), gold line borders around boards, "THOMAS W. BEST", possibly the binder, stamped at top of first front free endpaper.
Gold-gilt top page edges, side and lower edges deckled.
Spine margins scuffed, volume 1 spine scuffed, cracked & chipped, vol 1 front board detached, pages clean and fresh throughout all volumes.
All volumes dedicated with permission "To the Queen". Text includes correspondence with Queen Victoria and with Charles Dickens.
