"MADONNA OF THE ROSES" TONDO STYLE CAMEO, in silver pendant/pin frame circa 1930-50;

Master carver Giovanni Noto (1902-1985, known as  “o’ professor”) was head of the Giovanni Apa carvers studio founded 1848 in Torre del Greco, Italy, on the Bay of Naples; this carving is by his own hand

The well-carved shell cameo is collet-set, encircled with an applied border of very delicate twisted wire; the pendant bale is hinged, the pin is set in an early style hand-made tube hinge & fastens with a hand-made safety clasp

Circa : 1925-50's, possibly carved before the war & framed immediately after
Overall size : 1-3/4" diameter
Provenance : according to client, collected 1970's-80's in Europe
