Circa 1790 rose gold fob with remarkably carved luminous milky quartz seal:
2 BIRDS ABOVE A 3-MASTED SAILING SHIP – aground on the rocks
Motto : (in mirror image) “ D E S I R E “

Each bird clasps one end of a knotted rope --(“tightening the knot”) as one flies into the distance

Rose gold, in delicate neoclassical openwork of figured ovals and scrolls, with low-relief bright-cut wavy meander around the gem.
Gemstone oval, set open, 22 x 17 mm, milky to colorless with brown banding at base of image.
The gem in its frame 7/8" x 3/4", length of gold pendant mount 7/8"
