George Clare (English, 1835 - 1890)

A Pair of Floral Still Life Paintings:
1. Pansies & nasturtium on a mossy bank (with a butterfly)
oil on canvas, 10 x 12"
signed & dated lower left: G. Clare, 1862.

2. White roses, geranium, ivy & wild phlox
oil on canvas, 10 x 12".

A native of Birmingham, Clare specialized in flowers, fruit and still life.
From 1864 to 1873 he exhibited at the Royal Academy, the British Institution and Suffolk Street, London.
