18th century man's four-button stock buckle converted to a pin with addition of circa 1910 safety catch and fitments

In the time of George Washington & the other founding fathers, a Stock Buckle was worn behind the neck, fastening "Stock", forerunner of today's necktie. The buckle parts on this one still work, suggesting easy restoration of original use if desired.
