circa 1890's, with interlaced monogram BAC for “BALTIMORE ATHLETIC Club”
Provenance : estate of Ella Poe Burling, descended in a small family collection of memorabilia pertaining to the career of Arthur Poe.

Arthur Poe. Born 1879 in Baltimore, starred there and at Princeton, where – only 5 ft 7 and 146 lbs – the smallest football player of his day – he made the decisive score that beat Yale in two successive years

Size : 1-1/4” bar pin, suspend round medal
1” diameter.
Silver finish, fine condition

According to Princeton University website : Arthur Poe, one of the four sons of Edgar Allen Poe's cousin John Prentiss Poe, attorney general of Maryland. Arthur Poe, Princeton class of 1900, All-American, made the decisive score that beat Yale in two successive years .
Wikipedia : Arthur Poe's grandfather, Neilson Poe, born the same year as the famous author, lived so closely with Edgar Allen Poe most of his adult life, that he was perceived by many as the writer's brother.
