"KING MINE" (Colorado) TURQUOISE gold antique ring
"KING MINE" (Colorado) TURQUOISE IN ROSE GOLD RING,
circa 1890-1910, thus from the earliest period of the famous American mine.
A choice cabochon, approximately 12 x 10 x 5mm deep, with flat hand-polished underside, characteristic untreated natural color variations typical of the mine, deep turquoise blue to greenish, very minimal matrix at one margin.
The "King" Turquoise Mine, near Manassa, Colorado, valued for centuries by native Americans, received its name when rediscovered in 1890 by I.P. King.
This stone is in its original rose gold mount, in original fine condition with natural 'soft' patina of time; a collet fitted to the gem rises gently from domed shoulders, tapering along the finger from 5/16"wide (14 mm) at shoulders to 3/16" (10 mm) at bottom of the band
