The spring-hinged lid is latched by insertion of the side-mounted gold mechanical pencil.

Ornamented by artistic hand-engraved monogram cypher & interlaced date cypher “1902”

Writing Pad : 2” x 1-1/8” (now fitted with a gilt-edge pad, most pages still unused)
(2 solid gold screws allow for pad to be changed)
