1911 date indicates the work of an "IRRECONCILEABLE"
a P.O.W. who, in 1903, refused to sign a Declaration of Allegiance to the British Crown. With passage of years the "irreconcileables" were released to Hamilton, Bermuda, where this one remained, selling his hand-crafted P.O.W wares to tourists

carved by an Anglo Boer War prisoner held in one of the islands of Bermuda's Great Sound. Prisoners from the Anglo Boer War, in South Afrika, were held there during the war, 1901-1902.
