"DAY-and-NIGHT" patterned and openwork GOLD EARRINGS, circa 1835

Gold “Tops-&-Drops: (“Day & Night”)
Earrings, Romantic Era, circa 1835
Forget-me-not and other flowers in fine low relief pattern over all front surfaces, top and drop. Openwork borders with molded shell, waves & scrolls; original gold sphere pendant drop.

Tops can be worn alone, for daytime look.
Back-to-front locking (18th century Georgian type) ear wires, original, with hand-made hinge.

Impeccable original condition, in hollow construction typical of the period. The flat polished gold back of each element has one tiny neat circular vent hole, needed for construction. Microscopic examination in holes reveals tracs of period filler (‘pitch’) within.
