FLORAL & RIBBON OPENWORK JEWEL WITH PORCELAIN PAINTED PORTRAIT of a 1770's lady

Silver, set with 171 rose cut “Bristows”, original 18-19c hinge, later safety lock attached circa 1910 by an oval plate.

Circa : 1780 – 1830

Size : 1-1/2 -- 1-3/4” with two pendant drops; x 2-1/4” (5.5 cm)

Gross weight : .3405 troy ounce.

Ref : The Walters Art Gallery, Baltimore, cat.no.90, proposes an 1830's date for earrings of extremely similar work, also set with painted 18th century figures.
