OLD SILVER FILIGREE (TWISTED WIRE) BEADS (“Hanging Buttons”) on later 14k gold ear hoops
This type of silver twisted wire beads have been documented to the 18th & 19th century made in Russia and the Balkans, Holland, Genoa, Spain and Malta. They were collected in Britain through most of the 2nd half of the 1800's, sometimes incorporated into 'peasant costume' for wear at fancy dress balls (ref : Gems & jewellery, Oct 2007, pp 18-20,, Society of Jewellery Historians, London)
