Chrysanthemum bowl Circa 1909 (QING) Silver Coupe champagne, (or Sherbert) Chinese Silver commissioned by Colonel Sidney Derby Maize for a family member.
Monogram on applied disk : interlaced BM in “Gothick” openwork letters, triple bamboo stem spreads open to triple foot on circular repousse-decorated base.
Ht 4-1/2”; 4.2 troy ounce
Coin Silver, .900 purity; no marks found
Provenance by direct family descent from the original owner, Colonel Sidney Darbee Maize, in China circa 1909-1912, during ascent to the throne of the last Qing emperor, who was raised by a Scottish tutor.
