French 1809-1819 (Napoleon I) Hoop Earrings, Strass, Enamel & 18k Gold
Each diamond-look strass is set in a silver sawtooth-edge crown in center of a black enamel oval within lacy openwork of work of gold rings. The hoop below makes a channel of matching lacy rings.
Each hoop measures 1-7/8” x 1-1/8”, & closes back to front on a hinge, each with original cross-support and 1/16” ring above.
Hallmarks : each earring is struck on hoop with paired hallmarks (ref, Beuque # 234 [VI, p 27] & Tardy pp 143-44)
Gross weight, pair : .1055 troy oz.
An exceptional complete original survivor of this delicate form, with some nearly invisible defects to openwork and overall very minor wear as expected.
