Recto Headed in red “ Juni.’ (June). Central Rubric & Large initial L in blue
with Pen Flourishing in red.
Following the rubric, the initial L begins:

Loquetur dominus pacem in plebem suam et super...
( “ The Lord will speak peace unto His people...

Vreso (continuing):
...sanctos suos et in eos qui conuertuntur ad ipsum.
and unto His saints. And to those who turned to Him...”)

The black intial B begins:
Benedixisti domine terram tuam..
( “Lord thou art become gracious unto thy land...” )

Stylistically, the “B” matches that in the choirbooks by Pierre Alamire, for the Habsburg court in
Mechelen, and in Antwerp (Spanish Netherlands / Habsburg Spain, 1581 - 1714).
The style of initial was transmitted to Spain and even her New World colonies, where chant books
were produced as early as the 16th century.
