"Exuberant Period" Irish Provenance Stem Wines, Rummers & Cordials

IRISH-PROVENANCE Georgian Stem Ware,

Mouth blown in heavy flint ("lead crystal") glass, the bowls are deep cut with frieze of diamonds between horizontal double lines, above panels, on bladed knop stems, each above a broad heavy foot

Circa : 1820's

Provenance : direct descent from Michael Andrews (c 1778-1850), founder in 1823 of the Royal Manufactory of Linen and Damask, in Ardoyne, Belfast. Original production was on hand looms, and later the Jacquard method. An 1838 royal patent document, illustrated, presumably expanding an earlier patent for hand looming to the Jacquard loom, was granted by the young Queen Victoria, then in the second year of her reign. (The patent document is not for sale, but photocopy is available with glass purchase.)
