"S G" AMERICAN PEWTER 'CROWN HANDLE' PORRINGER

Single 'crown' handle

"S G" cast in underface of handle, in mirror image

Diameter : 5-1/2" (8" bowl to handle tip)

According to Laughlin : Handle type typically found in New York and New England, late 18th - early 19th century.

In vol 2, page 86, Laughlin suggests that the handle is cast from the 17th century mould of Massachusetts pewterer Samuel Grame, which passed down to Thomas Badger or Samuel Green [of Boston].
