MINIATURE medicine spoon ... for baby ... purse or pocket size
MEDICINE SPOON, MINIATURE, in Sterling Silver, circa early 1900's to mid century.
Unusual & scarce miniature size, only 2-3/4" long ... for an infant ... sleekly designed to fit in pocket or purse, or travel kit
The pocketed bowl has four pierced strainer holes at its tip.
The tiny pocket bowl measures a dose, which does not exit the four pierced holes at its tip until the spoon is held tilted upright in the mouth.
Medicine spoons are documented from the 1800's through the first half of the 1900's, but typically teaspoon 5" - 6" size, twice as long as this one. The metal ones are typically base metal or silver-plated, only rarely in sterling silver.
