Duce lived in Washington DC from 1950 to 1961, where he painted a ceiling mural in a dome of the Spanish Embassy, and specialized in portraits.
He exhibited at the New Mexico Art Alliance (Santa Fe), Washington Arts Club (1951) and IFA Galleries (1956) and others before returning to Spain in 1962
