Born in St. Petersburg, he exhibited in Paris, at the first Paris exhibition of 1907 and from 1927 to 1930 at the Salon des Independents. He is represented in the prints and drawings department of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
Bogerianoff was reputed a Symbolist or Synthetist artist, following the 1890 manifesto of synthetism written by Maurice Dennis.
Bogerianoff's synthetist vision is fulfilled here in a cityscape part real and part imagined, an inviting city of dreams with broad avenues down which race vehicles, their speed suggested by elongated streaks, their vague forms opening a window to the imagination. The rich and tender palette shimmers in an atmosphere of opulence soft and other-worldly. The lacquer frame, original and doubtless selected by the artist, suggests the luxury arts of Japan, and the exoticism of far away places and times.
