REVOLUTIONARY BURYING GROUND IN GOVERNOR’S PALACE GARDENS

(Soldiers’ bodies were interred here when the Palace served as a hospital during the American Revolution. The main entrance gate to the cemetery is at center-right. In background at left is the site of the Palace’s original 18th century Ice House, visible as a grassy earthen mound with a viewing platform on top.)

Restoration of Colonial Williamsburg (Williamsburg, Va.) was completed in 1935, and F.S. Lincoln was commissioned as official photographer.
