His works rarely appear and little biographical information has so far been found.
A chronometer by H. Mathey Peytieu, documented to 1870, was sold at Christies in 2007 (Swiss Francs equivalent to USD $150,000+).
According to Kathleen H. Pritchard's book "Swiss Timepiece Makers 1775-1893", Henri Theophile Mathey-Henry (1817-1893), added his wife's maiden name "Peytieu" to his makers name, signing H. Mathey Peytieu, or Henri Mathey Peytieu.

Outer case diameter : 1-12/16", with borders of engraved scrolls; overall length 2-7/8" to top of the gold hoop bale
